Wayne S. Matsuyama, O.D.
Dr. Wayne Matsuyama graduated from St. Louis High School. As a junior at St. Louis High School, he attended classes at Chaminade College under the Early Admissions Program. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Southern California and University of Hawaii. After 3 years of undergraduate college, he was admitted to the Illinois College of Optometry where he got his Doctorate of Optometry.
Dr. Matsuyama is a member of the Hawaii Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. After serving on the Board of Directors of the Hawaii Optometric Association for several years, he was elected as President in 1983.
He was appointed to the State Medical Advisory Board by Governor Waihee and served for 2 terms from 1990-1998. He was the chairman of the board from 1992-1998. He has also served as Chairman of the Board for the Kaimuki-Waialae YMCA and the Central Oahu Public Health Nurses Section Advisory Committee. In addition, Dr. Matsuyama served as President of the Pearl City Lions Club. He has been a board member for the Kaimuki Business & Professional Association, Optimist Club of Honolulu, Aiea-Pearl City Business Association, Waimalu Elementary School PTO and the Aiea Neighborhood Board.
